Hot Air Balloon Cake and Cookies

Happy First Birthday Loulou!!
For the balloon and basket I used my favorite chocolate cake and frosting recipe and covered it with fondant. It had been raining all week, so had a bit of trouble with the fondant and royal icing not drying properly and also getting photos but I'm happy with how it all turned out. Most importantly the birthday girl loved her chocolate cake!

    1. Thanks for the lovely comments Shona. I wish I had done a tutorial for this cake but I was rushing and didn't take pictures. The cake is an 8 inch round cake carved into the balloon shape. I cut the cakeboard to the shape I wanted first and used that as a guide, it made it way easier.

    1. For this cake I used a ready made fondant from a cake decorating store and coloured it myself. If you want to make your own marshmallow fondant is a yummy alternative. http://whatscookingamerica.net/PegW/Fondant.htm
